New Moon in Scorpio - November 4, 2021

On Thursday, November 4th, 2021 (2:15 PM PDT and 5:15 PM EDT), the moon begins a new cycle in the watery and penetrating sign of Scorpio. The sign that lives in the depths, is here to make the unconscious conscious, and is fluent in the language of death and rebirth. She wants what’s real and isn’t afraid to go to the hidden places to find it. Her shadow creeps in when she becomes lost in the self-discovery maze called the underworld, where moodiness and despair start to color her every move.

What does this mean for the New Moon in Scorpio?

We’re entering the final eclipse season of 2021 with a partial lunar eclipse on November 19th followed by a total solar eclipse on December 4th. On December 22nd the nodes of the moon enter into the Taurus/Scorpio axis and will stay for the next 18 months so consider this lunation a preview for some of next years themes.

Since Scorpio must feel her way through everything, this lunation invites us to dive deep into our feelings so that we might see what is bubbling up from the underworld (unconscious). If what you uncover feels intense, do your best to sit with the discomfort. It might be tempting to fall into resistance by trying to repress, dismiss or discard it, but that won’t serve you in the long run. The gift of feeling it ALL is that you will likely have some new insights about your relationship, a project, a work situation, or maybe some other type of dynamic that’s been playing out. Truth will be on the table and it will be your job to decide what you want to do with it.

Uranus, the revolutionary planet that signifies change and disruption, is opposing this New Moon. On the higher expression it serves as a catalyst or an awakener to some type of necessary change. It likes to create breakthroughs that help us feel free. If we’re attached to how things have always been then this opposition might feel uncomfortable. The change is likely to be sudden, unexpected, rapid, and maybe even happening out of the blue. Some of us will experience this change on a more internal and subtle level while others might feel the more dramatic impact of what’s trying to emerge. Scorpio’s tendency is to approach things as all or nothing, so you might want to leave some room for the areas that fall in between. It’s okay if you don’t have everything figured out yet. More will be revealed.

Saturn, the planet that speaks to limitation, restrictions, habits, discipline, and hard work is making a challenging aspect to this New Moon. The high expression will help us mature and place boundaries where they are needed. It reminds us that there’s nothing that we need to rush into and that inner work takes time. The lower expression might have us trying to control how things play out or possibly show up through withholding.

This is a fantastic time to do some deep inner work, process remaining grief, get in touch with your shadow, consult an astrologer, or return to therapy. If you’re not sure where to start, I’d be more than happy to set up a consultation to see if I would be a good fit to work with you.

Use this Scorpio energy to help you uncover what you’ve been afraid or unable to see, or even to further the death and dying process that you’ve already been going through. Be as honest and real with yourself as possible without placing a pretty package around your feelings. It’s easy to make excuses or justify behavior through intellectualization, rationalization, or even by denying that you feel the way that you do. Be gentle with yourself. Extend compassion. It’s okay to be in the mess as long as it’s the truth. If you enjoy journalling, here are a few questions that might help. What is undermining my power? Is there anything toxic about my relationships, home environment, or even my thoughts? Am I resisting change? What in my life needs to transform? What would it mean for me to step into my power? What am I trying to control? What are my excuses for keeping things the same?

While we all might feel pulled to reflect deeply on the truth of who we are and what we need to transform, we will each experience this lunar energy differently depending on where Scorpio is located in your chart or if you have a natal planet associated with it. If you would like a more personalized reading, to learn about who you are and what you’ve come here to do, I’d love to set up a session with you.
