New Moon/Total Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius - December 3rd/4th, 2021

On December 3rd, 2021 (11:43pm PST) and on December 4th(1:43am EST), we have a New Moon in the fiery, resilient, and adventure seeking sign of Sagittarius. It also happens to coincide with a Total Solar Eclipse that will be visible over Antarctica. A partial eclipse will be visible in New Zealand, Australia, and Africa. While the rest of us won’t be able to see it, we will all feel it in one-way or another.

Eclipses are unique. They stir up the intensity and they amplify whatever needs that extra touch. Since this lunation is in Sagittarius there tends to be a more optimistic tone behind it, and it encourages us to make some hopeful changes. With the moon’s shadow covering the sun, we know that we must lead from our heart. This eclipse might also push for natural endings and urge us to release whatever it is that we’ve outgrown. It can be hard to move ahead if we haven’t surrendered that which is no longer in alignment with our vision. If something is naturally leaving your life, let it. Something else will be coming to take its place.

This eclipse is also highly significant because it ends the cycle of eclipses with the Sagittarius/Gemini axis that began back in June 2020. Take a moment and reflect on all that you’ve experienced since then. What are you wrapping up? What have you learned? How have you let your curiosity open you to new truths? How has your vision changed from 18 months ago because of all you’ve learned? How have you freed yourself from outdated and limiting beliefs?

Mercury, the planet known for communication, thinking, and perception, is closely linked to this New Moon. Its presence suggests the possibility for your perceptions to expand and the potential to receive or understand some new truths. This alignment reminds you to believe in yourself and to remember that when you do, anything is possible, and yes, anything can be.

Imagine if the universe sent you a personal message that said, “Now is the perfect time to think big and beyond what you even think is possible.” Sagittarius tends to go big, has the potential to stir up our faith, and is able to take us on a quest to see the big picture. Hint: You have to be willing to say “Yes” or nothing happens.

On a more collective level, this energy might help us gain more knowledge about what’s really happening in the world or bring us into a more expansive and global view. If you’re looking for all the details, you might find yourself feeling a little frustrated. There will be a time to see the trees, but right now cast your gaze to the forest. Let your eyes wander beyond the trees, the hills, mountains, the ocean, the desert, and the skyline. Give yourself permission to see what’s on the other side of your current playground.

We can’t neglect the mystical planet, Neptune in this lunation. It’s making a challenging aspect so it would be wise to apply some caution when approaching anything that seems absolute. If the information you receive seems too good to be true, too dreamy, a mirage, or without any substance or depth, you’ll want to challenge yourself to see past the smoke and mirrors. This might feel uncomfortable, but if you can create some edges or boundaries for yourself then you’ll be more likely to separate fantasy from reality, make better decisions, and see things as they really are.

Uranus, the planet known for creating change, is reminding us to not remain too fixed in our opinions or understanding. You might find that more information will be revealed on a certain matter and when it is, you’ll find that the story starts to change. Let it evolve and become, instead of placing limitations, expectations, or a fixed outcome for the ending. In other words, let the story write itself.

This New Moon can feel both exhilarating and difficult depending on how you are seeing a particular situation. Your faith might feel challenged, but there’s a good chance that you can also have it reinforced. Just remember to BE like the arrow in flight. Know that you came from somewhere, and are headed somewhere meaningful; even if you have no clue we’re you’re going. An arrow in flight doesn’t have it all figure out yet.

Be that arrow and as Rilke says, “Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and to try to love the questions themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer."

While we all might feel pulled during this New Moon to expand our horizons, we will all experience this lunar energy differently depending on where Sagittarius is located in your chart or if you have a natal planet associated with it. If you’re not sure where to start, I’d be more than happy to set up a consultation to see if I would be a good fit to work with you. Message me
