Full Moon in Aquarius - August 3, 2020

On Monday, August 3rd (8:59 am PDT and 11:59 am EDT) the Full Moon glows in the rebellious and radical sign of Aquarius. The sign that moves to the beat of her own drum, thrives when she creates her own path, and is used to being called weird. She’s different, she’s quirky, she prefers to color outside the lines, and she’s all about using freedom to become her most authentic self. Oh, and I should mention, she carries the archetype of the geniustoo. Some might think she’s odd, but here’s the thing: she’s supposed to be. Society, friends or even family might try to cage her, but if she conforms to a predictable life simply to please others, there’s a good chance, she’ll lose her soul in the process. Eeek. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

So what does this mean for this Full Moon?

On one hand, we might feel that Aquarius is calling for freedom, radical individuality, and authenticity, while pushing us to break free from the collective so that we can listen to our inner genius. On the other end of the spectrum, we feel Leo is asking us to boldly claim and express who we are so that we can become more visible and known to the group. It’s the tension between the individual and the collective, the personal ego and all of humanity, and our inner work versus what we choose to share with the world. Keeping this tension in mind, consider what’s coming to a breaking point in your life or if there’s anything that needs resolution, especially if it relates to your freedom and independence, the future, and your community. Since Aquarius energy is also connected to the greater community or tribe, and our network of friends, it’s also possible that you’ll experience changes here, too.

This year is already marked by so much upheaval and change. It has also revealed which systems no longer work well and it’s shown us who we push into the shadows. Collectively, this Aquarian energy is urging us to consider what we need to claim for our future so that no one is exiled or overlooked. In other words, we must think outside the box and be willing to stand out from the crowd. We must be willing to look at what everyone else is looking at, but see what no one else is seeing. Don’t be afraid to lean into some of the Leo energy that is present now (Sun and soon to be Mercury), and make sure you embrace playfulness, engage in creativity, and celebrate life as much as possible. Let’s face it, when you feel alive and vibrant, it’s much easier to feel confident and ready to deal with what emerges along your path.

Uranus, the quirky planet that does not like to conform or follow the rules of the status quo, is the modern ruler of Aquarius, and is making a challenging aspect to this Full Moon. There is an unexpected element with this alignment, and it emphasizes sudden changes or developments in regards to independence and freedom both individually and collectively. Maybe we show resistance to the needs of the collective or maybe the collective is unable to see the needs of the individual.

Keep in mind that Uranus is in the sign of Taurus and this perhaps reflects that “things” we once possessed and took for granted are now in need of a massive overhaul. Read: deconstruction. It’s clear that Uranus is pushing us to wake up to these changes that are already set in motion and instead of resisting what’s in front of us, we need to try and reimagine a new future that supports the collective without disregarding the individual and vice versa.

It’s also possible that what once brought security is now changing, or maybe something completely out of left field joins the mix, or maybe there’s an ending or break from the past that must occur for you to move forward, or maybe you learn some new information that radically shifts your current circumstance. Since Aquarian energy is strong with this lunation, I’ll reiterate: It’s important to stay open, curious, and flexible to the changes that are manifesting both internally and externally. I repeat: stay open. Additionally, if there’s an area where you’ve felt stifled or stuck, this may soon change whether you want it to or not. I repeat: stay curious.

Here are a few questions for you to ponder during this lunation: When have I felt like an outsider? What do I wish the collective did to help me feel included? How might I value my talents and gifts more? Where in my life do I experience resistance? What type of future do I imagine for myself and for the collective? What do I need to change? What is changing? What are the changes revealing? What is my unique genius? How might I share my unique genius with others? How might the collective reveal what it is I need to express individually? What is my contribution to the collective?

We all might feel pulled to express our individuality in one way or another, but we will all experience this lunar energy differently depending on where Aquarius is located in your chart or if you have a natal planet associated with it. If you would like a more personalized reading, I’d love to set up a session with you.
